Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) for an On-Call Hospice Position in North Houston. This role involves providing after-hours hospice care and support to patients and their families, ensuring timely response and high-quality care. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills, a deep understanding of hospice philosophy, and the ability to work independently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond promptly to on-call requests, including patient assessments, symptom management, and emergency interventions.

  • Provide hands-on nursing care in alignment with the patient’s plan of care, focusing on comfort and quality of life.

  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers to provide education and emotional support.

  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to address changes in the patient’s condition and update the plan of care as necessary.

  • Accurately document all visits, interventions, and communications in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.

  • Maintain compliance with hospice policies, procedures, and CMS guidelines.

  • Participate in on-call shifts, holding the on-call phone, and ensuring availability to respond to patient needs.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • $100 per visit.

  • Up to $250 for holding the on-call phone.

Qualifications:

  • Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas.

  • Minimum of 2 years of hospice nursing experience.

  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.

  • Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.

  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and current auto insurance.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.

  • Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with the North Houston area and willingness to travel within the region.

  • Experience in symptom management and end-of-life care.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
